Its most likely that prototype of Quantas tablet using A4-1200 Temash with fanless design, A4-1200 single threaded performance is 0.25 at best, how much Intel's Atom single threaded performance? rolleyes.gif

Intel Atom Z2760vsA4 1200 Temash
1.80Ghz 2C4T______1.00Ghz 2C2T
0.18 points___________0.25 points SingleThread
0.50 points__________0.50 points MultiThreaded
1.7-3.0 Watts__________3.9 Watts TDP
41$_________________30-40$(?) Price

A4 1200 Temash GPU is comparable to Apples A6 or Exynos Krait according to: Anandtech

I don't know how much iPad and its successors consume but I found out that iPad consumes 3 watts at Idle with Wifi and 3G on, while at full load I could expect maximum of 8 watts. I think Temash A4 1200 at full load would consume 7-8 watts at maximum. Without Wifi and 3G I think iPad would consume at max 6 watts, right?

NOTE: Just pointing out why it deserved this award from Computex Taipei 2013! biggrin.gif

the most I've seen is 4-5 watts (and that's including the 2048 x 1536 monitor)

http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1481859&page=5
"iPad power constraint: typical long term iPad use needs to under 5 watts, with 4 watts driving the screen at typical brightness, and less than 1 watt for the CPU/GPUs. During peak use (aka iPad3 overheat), the CPU cores can reach 0.5 watts each, and the GPU cores can reach 1 watt each. But this pushes the iPad way over budget and can't be sustained."

http://forums.appleinsider.com/t/154022/a6x-chip-in-apples-new-ipad-has-quad-core-powervr-sgx-554-gpu
"(latest generation Playstation 3, 70Watt, versus 4 Watt for the iPad 4, of which half is used for the display)."

Not exactly credible sources, but nobody refuted them and I couldn't find anything official. redface.gif Just FYI tongue.gif

Thanks for the informations involving iPad... thumb.gif

Intel said that Bay Trail will be 50-60% faster than Clover Trail, so take for exsample Atom Z2760 that I took for an exsample already. Its a dual core with four threads and clocked at 1.80Ghz, it scores 0.18 in single threaded and 0.5 in multi threaded. Now an Bay Trail counterpart at same clocks would score 0.27 to 0.29 in single threaded and in multi threaded tasks it would score 0.7-0.8 thanks to hyper threading, so IPC won't be on par Temash in single threaded it seems while hopefully they sacrifice vast IPC improvement for better power consumption.

We could see a refresh of Bay Trail that will allow higher IPC even thought it will consume a tad/bit more watts to gain some performance also it seems Intel is going to kill i3 line in favor Bay Trail to replace it. That would be a smart move even thought by the time Bay Trail gets out there will be "Beema" a month or two before Bay Trail's release, I am expecting from AMD's "Beema" refresh better power consumption and even better performance or IPC.

AMD could already in second half of 2014 release an update or an successor that is manufactured in 20nm since TSMC will have couple of 20nm fabs, specially since Apple is also going to produce their chips in TSMC's fabs if I am right, Intel did not want to produce it in their fabs so hey... Since we have such a ego, we will slip possible millions and millions of dollars from Apple that would be nice for our stocks and revenue/profit.

Also EU is going to finance local companies to make their own fabs, 5-6 billion(7-8B$?) euro's is going to be invested in that sector.

If VIA gets again x86 license then expect nVidia to buy VIA in a heart beat.

Drinking game:

Take a drink for every time an OEM does a half-crap job with the tablets/hybrids just like the laptops, and ignore HP's failures.

Take an entire keg when an OEM only sells Intel-based or ARM-based tablets, like Dell's laptop lines (Intel all the way!).

these won't sell well and Macbooks will continue to increase in sales
