Who ever said that is on something. Asrock cleaned up their act a couple years ago. Their Z68 boards were the first that I felt were solid enough to recommend. There are still several people who are "purists" and only will go with asus or gigabyte. That is an old way of thinking and in't remotely true anymore.

Asrock, MSI, BioStar, and ECS have all made mobos that can OC with the best of them.

Asrock in particular is really focused on making high end budget boards. My friend has this itx board and he can OC his i7 3770K just as well as I can on an asus ROG board.

Edit:

I also agree with the H80i, but the OP said he wanted an air cooler. Soooo IDK if he is willing to go that way or not.

No maintenance. It is a closed loop. You mount it a bit differently than an air cooler, and that is the end of it.

The corsair, nzxt, termaltake AIO coolers are COMPLETELY different from full water cooling loops. You can essentially think of them as really fancy air coolers.

For a SSD I would go for a Plextor M5 Pro or Samsung 840 pro. Hard drives a WD Blue WD10EZEX or Seagate ST1000DM003 would be fine, those are both 1TB hard drives.

No. That is not really right.

Explain:
They don't just use only one type of VRM. The Extreme 4 (and presumably the Extreme 3 and below also) is where the issue is at. They use the older, hotter, and overall lower performing D-PAK mosfet here.
When you get to the Extreme 6 you get into the low RDS(on) mosfets which are much better, though at best you are still only getting hybrid, marketed as digital (presuming).

This is aside from the difference between reported voltage and actual voltage on the E4. Basically, just stay away from it.

The board in question though should be fine. The issues with the E4 are pretty isolated to that board.

They do use fully digital on the x79 boards though.
