Seasonic Gold X-1250W More Efficient than Platinum 1000W?

Thread Starter
I always assumed that tthe Platinum 1000W was far superior than the gold X-1250W power supply but I just got around to looking at the review numbers and it appears that at the very low end, the X-1250W dips below 90%, it is on average more efficient across the board than the Platinum 1000W.

It appears that while the 1250W can only be classified as a gold psu, it has a higher efficiency rating across its entire power band than the platinum 1000W headscratch.gif

Just take a look at these efficiencies:
Seasonic X-1250W : 307W : 88.92% 623W : 92.28% 928W : 91.84% 1268W : 89.94%
Seasonic P-1000W : 272W : 90.37% 524W : 90.81% 782W : 89.86% 1017W : 88.31%

Haven't looked into much of Seasonic's higher-wattage units, but it's definitely possible. The lower wattage variants of the newer KM3 series (which the X-1250 is part of) do also meet Platinum levels in terms of efficiency, it's just that Seasonic kept them as Gold, presumably for reasons related to product differentiation.

Mind you, efficiency isn't the only thing that matters with a power supply. The quality of the components used and the output current is also very important, so it could be that Seasonic was weighing the products in that respect, or they simply haven't refreshed the Platinum lineup. I could be wrong though, I'm just saying things from off the top of my head.

You got so many other great options then just Seasonic so why not look at that

Yeah I agree with that it seems the X 1250 looks pretty dam good to me... I was looking at the Corsair 1200i (not for the software gimmicky part) but for the power but I always had SeaSonic PSU with zero problems and they are very quiet. I'm sold on the X-1250 now and another note if you have multiple systems running and want the nice single sleeving bling bling then check out this store H E R E also no need to send in your cables they will make new ones and sleeve them for you usually with free shipping.. wink.gif

Some picture of there sleeving and there interchangeable as well with other X series PSU thumb.gif
