You can try to put functions that you only tap without holding the button on mouse wheel up and down. Reload on mouse wheel down might work for example, but something like crouch will not.

atm the mx518 i have (apart from lacking two more buttons) is about perfect. The issue with the scroll wheel is that its not nice to push down to click, its thin and pointy and so easily rolls as you click and it also takes some pressure to do it so this hurts the finger and also isnt responsive. a flat topped easy push scroll wheel would be a real nice thing to have. Also if the mouse has a left / right page this could be ideal for load out selections or class mappings.

I read a review just now on the CM inferno

" Button placement may be an issue, it really depends on how big your hands are. The forward and backwards buttons (used to jump forward and backwards in folders or in your internet browser) are placed slightly further back than the Sentinel and MX-518 mice. This isn't a massive difference, but it means I have to move my thumb further back to go backwards. At first this felt a little awkward but I soon got used to it. As I said, its only a fraction of a mm backwards. I like to use the ball of my thumb to click this, if you don't use the ball of your thumb it won't make a difference and of course, we all have different sized hands too."

so do i sadsmiley.gif i need to be able to crouch as fast as i can left click so the current placement for the mx518's left side rear button is 'perfect' front of thumb is mele, reload or nade, rear is crouch or prone.

hmm.. my fourth finger tends to rest off the edge of the right hand button on the rubber chassis if there was a button here that would be good (inferno has one but may be compromised by side buttons) i would have to angle my hand to the right and off the mouse a bit and that would feel un-natural

what about the corsair vengeance M65? has anyone got that ?

same left side buttons as the mx518 (*by looking i dont know) and a 3rd 'fire' button + flat top scroll wheel.

the reason i like the mx518 is because it is optical and not laser btw

True that might be somewhat of an issue but if you have a chance to try one out for a while...it might be worth it. I know I got mine through a CompUSA (now Tigerdirect).

The older mice do not. I know the Naga does, not sure of any others.
