hello all im hoping i can get some help with this because its driving me nuts. So was doing some benchmarking the other day and after i swapped out cards and started the pc it booted up and then instanly restarted. Upon restarting my kb and mouse have stopped working ive had this happen before on other systems and usually the fix is if u plug in a ps2 kb and mouse...But i cant get a ps2 kb to be recognized either i have tried old school ones ps2 adapters... heres what all ive tried.
1.ps2 kb and mouse
2.ps2 adapters
3.swapping ram
4.resetting bios
5.removing cmos battery
6.swapping graphics cards
7.swapping psu
This has me swamped i figured if something shorted out and blew the usb/ps2 ports that i would still be able to use my front usb ports...i cant ive tried 2 different ones on multiple hook ups. I cant get into the bios to check anything. Next option will be to get a pci usb hookup and try that. Have any of you ever heard of that happening to a motherboard also this thing has worked flawlessly for over a year not under warranty also the powersupply isnt cheap junk its a little older but its a antec 480 true watts. Advice is very appreciative and if this helps motherboard is a asrock kn178d with a phenom x4 940 4gb ddr2 and cards were 4890 and 465sc i know pushing the powersupply

Does the keyboard work on the BIOS level? If yes then: first, try using system restore to an earlier date. If that doesn't work, try editing the registry by following this guide. Last option is to backup your data, and do a wipe/reload. I've had this happen to an XP machine I've worked on and found no solution other than wipe/reload. I don't know what causes it but I think it's a corrupt registry.
