Xonar DX PCI-E NOT DETECTED At All

Thread Starter
I bought it used from eBay, seller claims it's 100% functional.

I have tried disabling on-board sound. I have tried putting it through other empty PCI-E slots.

Problems:
1. Sound card does not show up at all under device manager.
2. I tried installing the drivers, "Please connect the Asus Xonar DX Audio".

Is the card dead? What should I do?

Did you plug the power cable into it?

Were you able to detect that pci-e device in bios?
Make sure that the slot that you are using isn't disabled

Going over the basics some more, are you sure it's a good power cable? Does it fit snug? (I doubt it, mine doesn't, seems to be a somewhat common issue. I secured it with a zip-tie.) Is there any visible damage on the card such as bent or missing components? Have you tried different drivers?

I've tried other cards in it, so it works.

I highly doubt it's a cable issue. I tried both the supplied cable and the one that is from my PSU. It seems to fit really well.

The fact that it doesn't show up under device manager is weird.

I'll be trying the drivers and report back.

EDIT: Nope, won't install... it says, "Please plug in Xonar Device!".

Why not try pressing this button
this is basically 'refresh' button of the device manager
\

That might fix it.
Maybe try another slot if there is

Sounds like a dead card or some kind of motherboard issue. Do you have another machine to test with? If not, I would get a refund.
Probably a dead card. I have the pci d1 xonar and it's basically the same thing without a power cable. It doesn't detect it at all either. I'd return it.
