Looking for a new Rig

Thread Starter
Requirements are as follows.

OS will be Ubuntu 13.04
Will be running GNS3:
9 active 3745 Routers
2 active ASA Firewalls

1 Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) 1.1.3 - VM
1 Cisco Access Control System (ACS) 5.4 - VM
1 Win7 - VM
2 2008R2 - VM

Dual NIC's a must
Prefer Mini-ITX

This system will be on 24/7, so power efficiency is a must...ideally between 150-200 watts/hr

I suspect an i7 ivy will meet the needs and max RAM

This system will not have a monitor nor keyboard and mouse after initial setup and will be used for Remote Access only.

The amount of RAM you chose will not fit on that board, it only has 2 DIMM, in my opinion everything looks good just only buy one of the ram kits, and spend the extra money on a better more reliable psu. such as http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817256063 thumb.gif hope this helps

CPU: Intel Xeon E3-1265L V2 - very low power but still has 8 threads
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819117289

MOBO: ASUS P8Z77 WS - incredibly stable and reliable and has 2 onboard NIC's
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131822

RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 32GB (4 x 8GB) 1600mhz - consistently high reviews and is rock solid
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231569

GPU: ASUS GT 610 - cheap card that's silent and is perfect for just setting a computer up
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121641

HDD: Seagate Constellation 1TB - not sure how much space you need but this is an enterprise level hdd
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148784

PSU: SeaSonic SS-400FL2 - fanless so it is very quiet & it's platinum so it's the most efficient you can get
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151097

Hope this gives you some good ideas for parts thumb.gif

EDIT: just saw you wanted mini itx. the problem with that is setup will be more challenging because you only have 1 pcie slot so you cannot install a dedi nic and gpu at the same time and mini itx boards only have 2 dimm slots for ram so you will be limited to 16gb (unless you get server memory which is significantly more expensive) which might be an issue since you're running multiple vm's. anyways here is what i would suggest if you really do want to go mini itx. everything is the same as above unless otherwise noted:

MOBO: ASRock B75M-ITX - Reliable motherboard that will get the job done and be problem free
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157310

RAM option 1: G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 1600mhz
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231568

RAM option 2: 2xKingston ValueRAM 16GB ECC Registered 1600mhz Server Memory
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820239529

NIC: Intel EXPI9402PTBLK - Dual port nic that works really well with linux and is plug and play
