[EA] BF4 First DLC announced "China Rising" - Page 4

Hmm. This is funny. I don't see anywhere where it says it's a day 1 DLC. It just says you get it for free for preordering. Hmm.

Maybe if people would stop assuming things based on what they want to see instead of what the announcement says, there would be a lot less complaining on this site. Seriously guys. It's getting really bloody old.

This.. I haven't seen anywhere that says this will be day one DLC. I can see it turning out like BtK and coming out a few months after BF4's release.

Yay, more DLC that should have been included in the game in the first place I'll have to buy later. Only problem with their strategy is that I don't do DLC wink.gif

Ultimately its a moot point for me because I will never pay retail for premium. Hell I'm not getting BF4 less it has some changes. I paid retail for BF3 and got karkand but ultimately bought premium at 25$.

I agree we shouldn't have to pay for DLC but it is what it is and the majority isn't going to change when this has become the norm.

Anyone think its going to be the old maps from BF2?

Nope, they want all maps at launch for free and pay $30 for it.

People's value of others work isn't appreciated in the game industry. They want it all at a fraction of the cost.

I mean, personally i'd rather pay less for the base game and have the option of DLC, than have to pay double the amount of the same game with the "extra" content. That's my preference.

I kinda disagree. Like i said before, the game itself is borderline worthless without the expansion packs. Load up BF3 and see how many servers are available and how many people are actually playing without DLC. So the DLC essentially becomes a requirement. The argument about production costs is typical for any game, but without knowing how much money it actually cost to make BF4, it's kind of a moot point. In my eyes, launch day DLC is a straight up money grab (even if they "give it away" initially).

They should make a solid BF game and support it long term with DLC every so often. I've plunked down a lot of money on BF3 and expansions, and now with BF4 what am I left with? I think BF4 is coming way too soon. OR, stop ripping me off with DLC.

It's not launch day DLC! Wow.
BtK came out months later and still was being offered free with the limited edition of the game up until the DLC was released.

Ridiculous

Maybe the price of games should be raised to $100 to include all maps etc. Let's see if people will be happy with that. Nope, because they'll cry about not having a choice to buy each map pack individually. Catch 22s abound!

Why shouldn't we have to pay for DLC? It still costs developers/publishers time and money to make them. I can kind of understand for day one and specifically on-disk DLC, but anything post release costs extra for them so why should it be free for us?

I'm waiting for the day when DLC will give you the ending of a campaign. You paid $59.95 to start the game up but you need to buy the $19.95 DLC to get the ending!

I wouldn't mind the first day DLC if the price of the game was not $60. Instead you are still paying full prices for a game and they add all this DLC that is basically already developed to go on day one.
