You might be right and I just don't realize how hard they work to make a couple of maps. I'm not in the business its just hard to justify it as a consumer considering they're making millions off the game alone.
There was also a time when DLC was free and games were cheaper so it feels like a cash grab.

It's not only very expensive (again, they use quite a bit of third party software), but a very complicated process. There's a forum thread floating around where a few of the developers go really into detail about the process and it falls in line with why they haven't developed mod tools for the FB engine. If I can find it, I will post the link.
If you actually look at the history of video game prices, you'll find that games aren't actually more expensive, but can even be considered cheaper. This is the case despite the fact the cost of development has increased quite a bit.
Personally, I judge how much a game is worth to me by how much time I'm going to spend playing it. If I can get at least 1 hour per dollar spent, it's worth the money I spent on it. In BF3's case, I got a lot more than my money's worth.
