Corsair 750TX finally almost dead, what to replace with?

Thread Starter
Ive had my corsair 750TX for like 5 years now, ive had it open a few times like when i dropped a screw inside it, and when i changed the fan for a lighted one when i was into lights everywhere so warranty is out of the question im sure. It powers my old rig from like 2000 just fine, but ive been trying to get it to work with my main rig ever since my first P55 died, got a replacement it worked for 6 hours, and then the replacement for that p55 was a z68, and it still didn't work. The z68 powers up fine with a generic 250w psu i have, but the p55's didnt so they were confirmed dead i think. Anyways I would like to upgrade to a bigger unit while im buying a new power supply since why not, im gonna spend money might as well get something to last what ever i put in for the next 5 years. I know everyone gonna say don't waste your money on a overkill supply, and get one thats just enough power for your rig, but why? Not even really sure how overkill a 1kw unit would be, since the PSU calculators on the internet are saying 1000-1100w psu at max load.

The one i have in mind is the EVGA 1000 G2, it looks amazing, and from what i can tell by the specs on it, its not to shabby either. And i love the braiding on the modular cables. Is this a good quality unit? It also has double the warranty as corsair and EVGA has great support staff even if it goes bad.

The EVGA SuperNovas do look good and the warranty is very appealing

The XFX pro series are good, here's the 1050W one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817207021
IIRC They're Seasonic units

You could always go for another corsair, an HX1050 would be a good choice, or if you wanna spend a little more there's the AX860i

HTH!

You dont need more then 750 watts for your system if you want overkill i say look at the NZXT HALE 90 V2 850 watts

If you still want a overkill PSU despite it being overkill i say go with the EVGA SuperNova G2 its much better then the Cosair AX860i or HX1050

Last stay the hell away from the EVGA SuperNova PSU´s only good one is the brand new G2 which has nothing to do with the older ones
