[CL] ASRock Fatal1ty Z87 Professional gets unboxed - Page 2

Meh i like the fatality stuff. Kick ass name, and brings a little competition to the red/black Mobos (ROG).Im using a z77 in an upcoming build, my only complaint is the cheesy F on it (bottom right) , they need to make it more serious looking due to the name FATALITY.

1) Fatality. FAIL.

2) Ugly cheap looking plastic. FAIL.

3) Heatsinks aren't heatsinks. FAIL.

4) Molex connector? Really? We're trying to move forward and get rid of this crap and you're bringing a legacy port for power. USE SATA ASROCK.

Am disappoint.
I'm OK with with it being molex. Need the SATA elsewhere. The positioning is also pretty nice. I'm used to seeing those SLI/Crossfire power connectors somewhere in the middle of the board. Where they have it, you could just have a lone Molex coming through a grommet. Rather than having a cable going half way across your board.

Molex 8981 has only one 12V wire, Sata has only one 12V wire. Both easily overloaded. People daisy chain their pump and fans and lighting on molexes and then expect that single wire to also provide auxilliary power to multiple GPUs.

I don't understand why they don't use PCIe plugs which have three 12V wires. Pumps and fan controllers should also be PCIe. More PCIe sockets on PSUs is easier than more molex/sata sockets because it's 12V only.

How many people really need a pump pulling more than 5-6A, or have more than 60w worth of fans?

I think Asrock's Fata1ty boards are good looking, I have one and its a beast of a board. It's like ASRock's version of ASUS's RoG series.

yea the F is a bit cheesey, but there isn't a lot out there in the way of black and red boards, aside from ROG or old EVGA classified type boards. I'm still rockin the P67 Pro and love it biggrin.gif

The very 1st time I've ever heard any Fatal1ty branded product be anything other than a complete fail.
The logo on the south bridge sure looks like 4F to me.

It's just branding? it could say holy mother of god on the heatsinks and would perform the same
