Wireless internet VERY slow

Since a couple of months, our wireless internet got very slow. I'm mentioning wireless because I'm using a powerline myself and I don't seem to have man problems. I'm getting 6 mb/s on steam while my brother gets about 100kb/s

Obviously, his signal is weaker because the modem is on the first floor and his room on the second floor. My brother on the most upper floor has trouble to open basic sites such as his gmail and stuff. This isn't normal. Everything in the house that works on wireless just feels VERY slow.

We have:

Two laptops
4 computers
Ipad
3-4 mobile phones
Wireless digital tv

This may seem like a lot, but a few months ago we had the exact same setup but wireless was decent. I'm talking about 1.5mb/s torrents etc so that is very good compared to 150kb/s max now. I've tried unplugging the modem/router etc and I've even logged into our modem and tried changing the channel from 1 to 6 to 11. Nothing changed.

Can't be the signal since nobody has disconnection problems and the signal is good/excellent on most. Hell, my father's pc is right next to the model and he's having problems as well. Too mich computers at once? Can't be either. My father has slow internet when he's the only person home.

What could be wrong? I've even called our provider and everything is ok. Don't think he's lying, because like I said... I'm using powerline and I have zero problems. It's purely wireless related. No idea what's up.

You need to call your provider again and either go through the process of completely resetting your service. Which would require (I know if you have verizon) to unplug everything, including the backup battery in your basement, but they can walk you through that on the phone. Who is your provider? There is a chance that you are getting throttled for using torrents and resetting your service completely and changing your ip would end the throttling.

A Belgian provider called Belgacom. Your throttle could be right, but that would not explain why I have perfectly fine internet on my powerline. If they throttle everything, I'd have sucky internet as well, wouldn't I? tongue.gif
