Like I said, upgrading/reinstalling is not an option.

Let me phrase the question a different way.

Is there any way to get a program to RECOGNIZE my OS as 64 bit without having the features? As in, no actual 64 bit functionality but it's still seeing it as 64 bit.

If it's a 64-bit exe you will not be able to run it on a 32 bit OS.

If it's a 32-bit exe asking for an OS, it's plausible you could trick it, but I don't know how tongue.gif.

Ask the dev to compile a 32bit version.
The only way you can run a 64bit application on a 32bit machine is if you run it in a virtual machine with a 64bit OS.

So wait, these are 32 bit executables that need to be ran in 64 bit Windows? That doesn't make sense. I assume they are 64 bit executables and you need to run them in 32 bit Windows. That is impossible. You would have to use a virtual machine of a 64 bit OS but I really don't recommend virtual machines for gaming. Even if you could trick your computer into reporting itself as a 64 bit OS (think of the equivalent of a user agent for a web browser) the program would launch but instantly crash because 64bit programs can't run on 32 bit. I think windows reports it's version from the registry at the location HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion but there are probably a ton of keys you would need to change to get it to report as 64 bit, but then like it's been said 64 bit can't run in 32 bit.

Just bite the bullet and upgrade, can't believe anyone would want to stay on 32bit Vista with 8GB of RAM (or any amount of RAM tbh)frown.gif Assuming your sig rig is the machine in question.

1. No. Not possible in any way at all. You NEED a 64-bit OS to run 64-bit programs. There's no hack/compatibility mode/anything.

2. Why is it not an option. I don't understand this; I've seen you post before this, and you never explain why. What about dual-booting a 64-bit OS?

To be clear.... You can create 64-bit OS VM in a 32-bit host OS if you have a 64-bit processor with the proper extensions.

Example: http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=1003945

Yup... you can run a 64-bit application only in a 64-bit OS.
Once again...

Still not true, you can even run a 64 bit application in 32 bit OS if you run some OS based on Debian 7 + as it uses Multiarch architecture. Just a remark as you didn't mention windows (yet the thread starter did) so a hint for the future/ppl searching this thread..

You should be able to run a VM inside your current system running 64bit.

There is no known way to 'trick' a program into thinking x86 architecture is actually x64 architecture; primarily due to the fact the architectures have different system-level functions and access points (such as the registry).
Think of it this way; run a program designed for Windows XP in something like Windows 3.1 (a 16 bit OS). It's just not technically possible.

Furthermore, I have my doubts you can even run a x64 OS in a Virtual Machine on a x86 host.
In short, I'm afraid you'll either have to dual boot, upgrade or format as previously suggested in this thread.
