What quiet CPU cooler would I get the most bang for my buck if I don't plan to overclock? - Page 6

In my case that would be the 4th RAM slot, seeing my ram slots go from heat sink to frot of case 4,2,3,1. So @maortega15 for dual channel two sticks I would use channel 1 and 3 just fine? You'd be fine I think.

For example, if I was wanting to sync fan speeds through SpeedFan, and for example's sake, I would have 2 Corsair SP120 PWM.

I would then plug the PWM ends of the fans to the splitter into motherboard, and power the fans by connecting the molex end of the fans as well to PSU? (Dunno if SP120 PWM has both on same cable.)

Sorry for my n00bness and the hijacking. Damn I hijack too often...

I will use your rig's board Asus Maximus V Gene as example.

My board is also an Asus and I've tested the Akasa's 2 way and 5-way PWM splitters.
The 5-way splitter draws power from the psu.

Your board comes with 2 CPU Fans. They're PWM headers that control only 4-pin fans.
The CHA Fan 4-pin aren't PWM headers, they control 3-pin and 4-pin fans by DC.

The speed control by the PWM splitters that draw power from the psu will work only with PWM headers.
So the CPU Fan headers will control 4-pin fans and the fans will spin at full blast in the CHA Fan headers.

The speed control by the 2-way splitters work fine with PWM or DC.
The CHA Fan headers can control both 3-pin or 4-pin fans with these splitters.

The Gelid 2-way and the 4-way PWM splitters should work the same way the Akasa's.

Ah I see thanks for the explanation. +rep!

Sadly the Asus is a wanted item, so I can't inspect it in person. But I understand what you mean. I'm sure my current board (GA 78LMT USB3) only has the 2 PWM headers. So I'll have to be careful when upgrading.

Thanks again. I'll stop hijacking. tongue.gif (I say, that, but I often or not end up hijacking posts seeking help.... I do apologise)
