Sapphire HD 7950 Vapor-X Overclock Suggestions - Page 2

Temps shouldn't be a problem, I over clock for games because some I play are very demanding, plus, I like having 7970 power for cheap
post #12 of 19
Thats why its cool to have different profiles in AB, I dont need 1150/1500 clocks when I play CSS, RO2 or something less demanding so then I apply stock profile, however when I play FC3@ultra+2xAA or BF3@ultra+4xaa@72Hz, 72fps, I kinda need that extra power.

@~1100-1125MHz/1500MHz your card should match a stock HD7970GHz-edition.

BTW. I managed to break 10000 graphics score @1100/1250, and these are the highest clocks I could get stable with the stock-cooler http://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/6094666.

At 1.25v(stock voltage on my card) both my 7950's run at 1150/1575 no problem. I use AB also, just keep an eye on core and vram temps.

Have to admit that I still havent finished it biggrin.gif but its a fun and nice looking game for sure. IMO without HDAO, MSAA and Ultra-settings (no DOF, no motion blur) it looks kinda bad (lots of jaggies...), but thats just my opinion.

if you haven't try stock volts first for 1575, do so. you might not even need that much . . . prolly 1400. i think the core is what matters most in games.

Unfortunately, I believe my card has the elpida chip. Can't be sure though, I'll need to check it when I get back home.
