dx10 and crytek, 8800GTX review

Im not sure if this has already been posted, most likely has but id just like to share it again because it absolutley blew my mind. Not just the game, but notice the god dam details in it, and the card, able to play without one SINGLE lag spike. Its like silk x44 million. Just, just astounding. I have never seen anything like this before.

Here

I think im going to convert to nVidia, even though the R600 chipsets are due next year, i think the 8800 will really put up a good fight.

8800's would kinda be a waste of money as the R600's are almost due and the should be alot better then the 8 series because they are second generation (<3 me xbox)

yes despite the fact that the r600's are 64bit? i read that somewhere, 2 8800gtx would outperform even the highest end card in the new gen of ATI cards, BUT, to even afford a system that wont bottleneck with 2 88's in SLI is madness. We'll see how the r600's pan out in the reviews soon to come.

The R600 doesn't work properly right now. Ati promises that revision A2 will work perfectly, but this remains to be seen.

Whether the R600 ends up faster or not I am in <3 with my 8800gtx

ATI's R600 features 64 Shader 4-way SIMD units. This is a very different and complex approach compared to Nvidia's relatively simple scalar Shader units.

ince R600 SIMD Shader can calculate the result of four scalar units, it yields with scalar performance of 256 units - while Nvidia comes with 128 "real" scalar units. We are heading for very interesting results in DX10 performance, since game developers expect that NV stuff will be faster in simple instrucions and R600 will excel in complex shader arena. In a way, you could compare R600 and G80 as Athlon XP versus Pentium 4 - one was doing more work in a single clock, while the other was using higher clock speed to achieve equal performance.

R600 isn't second-gen DX10 cards. It's ATI's first gen. Can't wait for Crysis, though.

the xbox 360 GPU is DX10 and it's made by ATi.

ATi xbox GPU + R600 = Second generation
