since I have a i7 should i download this one @BIOS (Intel 6/7 & X79 series) @ http://www.gigabyte.com/support-downloads/Utility.aspx ?
its 2012 so seems old but its the only i7 supported one i can find on that site. and after that I try again with X M P ?

Why would you download from Gigabyte? I thought you had a P6T DELUXE V2

WOW Wow wow...

Slow down there cowboy tongue.gif

if we are talking about updating bios now, you should be 100% focused on that, and nothing else!
It happens rarely, but I had a motherboard brick on me half a year ago.. it is not to be taken lightly!
Granted that this was one bad flash vs 20~ good ones..
Just be careful..

There is no guarantee that this will fix your problem but couldn't hurt though (what am I saying.. ofc it could hurt)

And I agree with Stay Puft.. what are you doing on gigabytes homepage?

I unfortunately believe that this member doesnt really know what the hell hes doing and is just changing settings trying to make it work. OP you need to do some reading before doing more.

I think you are missunderstanding me, I am not trying to overclock my Computer, just trying to make it run the speed it should run since my friends CPU has higher scores then mine.
Now I have almost equal scores with him at this point, yet there is some diffrence in the ram frequency's.
(both me and my friend have not overclocked it)

now gambi2004 said i could optimize the settings by putting it on XMP and this is what i tried but I got a error message.
this made me look up my bios version and it is outdated, updating a bios can't be that dangerous right? given you don't download the wrong one tongue.gif

owell i will try to update bios, downloading this asus updater program to run this .rom file i got from downloading the bios update to make it run atm.
so you suggest i do not put it on XMP again?

some people say updating bios can be dangerous and that you shouldn't do it if its not needed.
you sure i should update it?

and once again im not asking for help overclocking my cpu just to make it run 100% speed as intended so i match my friends cpu score/speed
and since its the same one and both are not overclocked i don't see the point in needing to read a guide on how to overclock
even when i do find it rly intresting i will need alot more knowledge before attempting to do this myself
so once again i am just trying to fix my cpu so it runs same speed as my friends with the help of you guys
and since you guys have helped me fix the clock speed and the only diffrence now seems to be the ram speed that is not running 100%
im hoping i can fix this too with your help so i will have same cpu speed and it will boost my performance in games

Pew tongue.gif I almost started crying frown.gif lolz cheers.gif

but if it WAS for me.. you would be "kinda" right.. im no expert on ram clocking.. am I right by assuming that XMP is the easy way to set up RAMs? it worked well for me in the past
and if you are gonna OC CPU etc, XMP should not be used, since it is only a preset of settings and wont fit for most "manual" OCs..

By suggesting XMP, I hoped for a quick / easy fix for hes problem, but seams now that a manual OC might work better in this case.. :/

and I would vote against BIOS upgrade for new ppl unless there is a specific problem that bios update is know to fix..
