EVGA Z68 will not boot from anything...

Got this POS board after i RMA'ed 2 DOA EVGA P55 FTWs. Got it yesterday it didn't like my PSU, it sitll doesn't unless i hold the 24 pin cable at a funny angle, but i found out my spare rig does the same thing with it now, but when it does turn on, this board will detect HDD's and DVDRM but when i go to boot from the CDROM to install windows it just sits there and refuses to go anywhere, like it does when no disk is installed. Ive also tried a USB DVDROM drive, and a USB flash drive with windows on it same thing. Whats the trick with this thing?

Flash BIOS to latest version, load optimized defaults, and if you have anything in the BIOS related to boot options or UEFI boot- set it to legacy only. And next time, unless you're buying a Classified E760, I wouldn't touch EVGA boards wink.gif

I didn't want this thing, i was forced to take it on a RMA from my old P55 FTW that did me great for 3 years.

What processor are you using with it? Is your CDROM a SATA connection? if it is try connecting it form the #2 SATA output port from the top of the mobo.

If it just sits there maybe your internal CD ROM is bad?

If not just put the Boot CD into the DVD ROM and boot from there.

Im using an i5 3570k

Ive tried 2 different SATA DVDROM drives, all the sata ports (bottom 2 don't even detect anything is plugged in), ive tried a USB DVDROM drive, as well as a USB flash drive. Ive tried booting from a bootable memtest cd, 2 different live linux disk, and a window xp, vista, and 7 disk. still they all just go to a screen with a flashing _ on it.

So legacy only didn't fix it? And if you select the DVD ROM manually (like F10 or F8 or whatever for startup menu) does it work?

no when i select them manually on the f7 screen it does the same thing, The USB flash drive with the latest BIOS will not boot, though it boots just fine on my laptop. Everyone keeps asking about legacy only, but i can't seem to find something like that in the horribly layed out BIOS. When its flashing _the CDROM drive spins up but doesn't read the disk cause no led comes on. the BIOS led panel thing is showing AE which means looking for legacy bootable or something like that.

Okay... try just connecting the DVD ROM... before putting the windows 7 boot disk in the DVD ROM, go into BIOS and look to set the boot settings - in the BIOS set it to the name of the DVD ROM as the first boot. Then exit and save then put in the windows 7 disk in the DVD ROM...

Im not even trying to install windows anymore, i would be happy if anything worked. Hirens boot cd works on my laptop, not here. Memtest works on laptop, not on this z68. Bootable flashdrive with latest BIOS doesn't boot either.

Trying to boot the USB flash drive unplugged every sata cable, the mouse, only thing is a video card, keyboard, and USB flash drive and nothing will go.

Now its giving ERROR code 55, which means memory not installed. Im about to take this board out out to the driveway and give it a good stomping on.
