Corsair AX860I

Thread Starter
Is this a good PSU for:

i7-4770K @ 4.5 - 5.0 GHz OC
2 x EVGA GTX 780 SC
Custom water cooling with 1 block.
10-15 high performance fans

Or should I get the Corsair AX1200I?

Thanks

that 860 will be PLENTY!

those gpus draw 240 watts each (480) add in all your stuff and you're still hitting 625 maybe 650 watts. btw, what the hell size case will fit/need 15 fans???

Okay, that's good to know. That will save me about $100. I just didn't want to put my 780's in harms way by a PSU that is pushing its limits.

Also I will be using the Corsair 900D which has up to fifteen total fan mount locations. +more is radiators

Do you own it already? If not, and you're in the market for a new one, get the AX850 unless you insist on paying premium for the (buggy) Link software for whatever reason.

Well after more research, I read that there were a lot of complaints from the Corsair AX series which made me a bit nervous (coil whine, ect.). So I just ordered a SeaSonic X Series X-850. Hopefully it turns out good. Looks to be a pretty positively reviewed PSU.

Any thoughts on the X-850?
why would you have up to 14 rad for ONE block?

i got a ax860i today brand new for $100 off retail, have yet to plug it in

im usin basically the same specs as youe xcept im on x79 and im running more w/c than you...

hoping the 860i is enough, if not ill have to use my enermax 1250w tongue.gif

This is what I read as well. Reason for me changing. However the AX series is on the recommended power supplies list

I changed my x-850 to a x-1250 for future proofing. Might want to add a 3rd 780 down the road.

The SeaSonic x-1250 is a really high ranked PSU so I hope it works out.

You need to take things like these with a grain of salt. Many who go on about the problems have no first hand experience. Granted, the software is still in it's early stages in many areas, but not everyone is having these issues. I'd wager coild whine is just as likely on these units than on any other. Corsair simply happens to sell so many units that it's no wonder problems people are experiencing pop up more often here and there.

NZXT HALE 90 V2 does everything the Cosair and Seasonic units does but no one wants those for many reasons most makes no sense at all or are just plain ridiculous

Much the same thing can be said about the OCZ ZX series
