There are a few of us that have done this mod
Basically all you do is remove the stock plastic fan shroud by undoing all the screws on the gpu, then you remove the heatsink and attach the closed watercooler to the gpu block. Then you use plastic zip ties and tighted the cooler head down onto the gpu. I have also attached some metal heatsinks to all my ram chips to cool them down too.
Takes literally 15 minutes to do this mod, only problem is it may invalidate your warranty. But my card is well past that anyway.
Check the "Nvidia Mod" thread I posted above, people use all different kinds of closed watercoolers for this, H40, H60, H80, H100, Antec khuler etc etc.
For the cost of that its cheaper to buy one of the closed watercoolers, i.e here - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835181010
. Also that Gelid cooler doesnt appear to include any aluminum heatsinks to use on the ram chips.
Also OP why do you need a bios flash? If your struggling to change fan speed have you used MSI Afterburner? Its free to download and usually lets you change the fan settings.Edited by $ilent - 5/30/13 at 1:29pm
