Welcome to my drop box build, It will have some new parts and some old. A lot of the hardware will carry over from my previous computer and will be a place holder until some Z87 / 290's are released and we'll see what's worth spending more money on then. I am house sitting until mid june so it won't progress too quickly which is a little disappointing but it gives me time to plan a little and deal with some small problems.
Thank you to LD for building a phenomenal case, the quality of the final product is amazing. The perfect size for what i wanted.
So here is the list of components and the general idea for the build;

So i have most of that already, just missing the tubing and coolant and rotaries. I wanted to do something special and have a 420/360 version of this case and use 120mm fans all round.
So first problem of the build is that the top section of the rad that i ordered is a 420, but the way that the grills and other bays are mounted in the case prevents the rad from being mounted flush against the grill and having the fans inside. The rad is like 1-2mm too wide to slide between the lugs on the grill (see pic)
So i will probably need to either; A - Find someone to machine a spacer/shroud a 2 mm thick from alu and then get it powder coated to mount the 120mm fans to the grill. OR B - just buy 2 360 grills from LD when the put them on their site.
Leaning towards option B, as i have to buy a 360 grill for the front anyway. This also helps me out by allowing the grill plus one bay cover to be on both the front and top, which could be handy if i use a fan controller again as there is no room in the top with the 420.
And then i realised that the 120mm fans would be super spaced out on the shrouds and wont fit the 360mm grill.
So this raises problems with the fan controller, can the ap-45's be run off the motherboard via splitters?
Maybe its worth trying to swap the 420 for another 360, what are your thoughts on that whole issue?
Option C - Longer screws maybe http://www.thekoolroom.com/product/m3x40countersunk/ or try find some 45's and do a plexi or thin alu peice to cover the fan under the grill.
Using 60mm rads is no problem in this case but the front rad is a bit tight with a 7mm shroud included with 25mm fans.
The top is pretty good too with a 60mm rad + 25mm fan and 14mm shroud the rad sits just above the MB screw holes.
Measuring the case At the front, the grill area is the same size as the top, so with 360 grills there is only one bay + grill. Bit of a shame almost because there is so much room from the rad on the inside to sit on the bottom of the case or even slightly off it and then be able to use 2 bay slots plus grill. But this would probably ruin the symmetry if the grills from the front.
This is really just a placeholder until i can start my build properly, thought the rad spacing may help other people looking to buy the same case until then.
