You bet it wasn't.
Even if they got 5 bucks of actual profit per SoC, at 70 million units like the PS3 (as vampirr pointed out), it's still 350 million dollars of income during a 6-year span. Quite a healthy amount if you ask me!

That's quite a nice point. Microsoft started selling consoles at profit once they shrunk to 65nm, and even more so when they stepped to the 45nm node Xenon currently is in.
It could also be the reason why the broad 60-100$ margin. 100 is on the current node, 60 is what they expect on further size reductions.Edited by Artikbot - 5/30/13 at 5:06am
