It's called small form factor, you should look into it.

You're mixing two concepts here.

There's people that truly think themselves as hipsters, which is partially what you depicted, but there's also a portion of people that actually have tastes like those.

I for one have a preference towards gameplay-oriented games. If I want to have fun, the thing I care less about are graphics. If I want a realistic car simulator, first comes the physics engine, then comes the rest. If I want a good series, first comes the story, then the artwork.

But hey, things have their gradients, too. GTR2 for example is in some aspects better than GTRE, but I still prefer Evo because its noticeably better graphics make for a better experience than the in some occasions slightly better simulation engine (which is still arguable).

The same way I can't watch an Anime whose art style I do not like, no matter how good is the story.

It is absolutely no secret that we (talking about us as a whole) PC gamers are elitist, think of our platforms as the best ever, and everyone who doesn't game with a keyboard and a mouse is a 'console kiddie'. Not to mention that any game that is below masterpiece gets bashed to death by a sector of our community.

That's why game developers care less about our versions. Crytek brought a massively innovative shooter in every aspect. Silk smooth sandbox gameplay, bleeding edge graphics, and a power-augmenting suit. It is still my favorite FPS ever. But it got pirated to extreme extents, so they moved on to consoles. 'Dev laziness' is just another lazy justification for our acts.

And folks, that's why we can't have nice things. We are so blinded in our elitism, that we inadvertently shoo developers away.
Np made, glad to see someone on this forum with some matters. Other people would continue to argue over nothing haha, wish there were 100 more of you on here.

I am pretty sure that the Wii U is not using a 256 or 512 MB graphics chip. No one knows what the specs are, but if you look at Mass Effect 3 and Assassin's Creed 3, they smoke the 360 & PS3 versions out of the water.

Half-life, Quake, Doom, Crysis... you name it. I want to feel like I'm right in the game, it's a vital part of the experience, and now games look more stunning than ever, they deliver the ultimate gaming pleasure. I owned a PS1, sure, it was cool, but you won't be satisfied with those graphics forever. There's no argument against someones tastes, it's perfectly fine to play 1989 Gameboy titles now, it's just that Nintendo lives in it's own world since N64, hardly any good major 3rd party games, but the platform lives on their in-house studios and casual gamers. It's a totally different market and business strategy, they don't need to be better than Sony and MS, and they know it.

Metroid is now a kids game? LOL.

Those games you bolded (metroid, zelda, mario, etc.) are FAR more challenging then the droves of FPS's these days... - hardly child's play. Sick of this "hardcore gaming" crap - that term wasn't even a thing until a few years ago. rolleyes.gif

Sorry, Crysis 3 looks like UTTER CRAP - if you want realism. I don't feel sucked into the game more because of it and I played and completed that game in all it's generally repetitive and boring gameplay for the graphics...Beat it once and now it's collecting dust. in fact games aren't even remotely near that realm yet, so it's a poor excuse. The Toy Story movie is still lightyears of head of gaming, and will probably remain that way for quite some time - and Toy Story looks ok at best compared to some of the newer cgi.

720p at 60 fps ? That resolution is kinda old for this next-gen console. It should atleast do 1080p at 60 fps.
