Uh....$50 more?

You can buy a 7970 for under $400, with 4 free games, I bought mine for $300 on a crazy sale.

I don't even know where you are getting your information at this point....

Also nice to see them touching on the fact 2 gb is plenty for those with 1440p and below.
Why do people do that?(you in this case) Who gives a flying rip? You made a complete random guess about a price, and it turned out that your guess was right, do you want some sort of recognition for that? It makes no sense

EVGA is offering a free backplate with any of their 770, I think I'll jump on that.

But for 1440p 7970 is the clear winner. Even 7950 is better than 770
I agree with your first statement, but which review did you read that shows the 7970 and 7950 being better than a 770 at 1440/1600 resolution? I ran through the guru3d review quickly and saw only Hitman being better by a few fps at the higher resolutions.

Knowing that 7950 can OC very high compared to stock I think it's the better card, but Linus did push games too far, so far that they are unplayable(15-30 fps).

Well, at this point I think we can close this thread....

As it is more than obvious we should all be eating Cheerios for breakfast, as per the below benchmarks.

Now, I didn't want to have to break out this benchmark, but everyone has been posting cherry picked results and such. I just had to clear things up once and for all.

On a more serious note....

Umm...hmm...AMD drivers are perfectly fine in single card situations, this has been proven time and time again....even in the benchmarks for the 770.

Second, 2GB isn't 'plenty' for 1440P. I have absolutely broken 2GB on several occasions, and we haven't even seen the newest game engines. 1080P? Sure, 2GB will work just fine, 1440P and higher? No, you hit a VRAM limit on 2GB.

I defended the Titan against the 780, will do the same for the 7970 vs. 770.

However the 770 can be a great buy for someone who just wants, easy out of the box performance without having to make a fuss about tweaking anything. Or if you need NV features. But the 7970 still for the OCN crowd is the better performer.

While EVGA doesn't have any strictly "reference" cards (i.e. the ones with the Titan-style metal casing), they do have two models that have blowers that exhaust air out the back.
