Between the massive swaths of black and the stainless steel accents, does anyone else get a 80's faux-futurism vibe from EVGA's 770 blower? It looks like a video card that wouldn't have been out of place in Short Circuit or WarGames...

Sadly, I must admit that I preferred EVGA's 600-series shrouds with their almost-houndstooth pattern (especially the grey-topped ones like the 660 Ti and below)

However at least it's much better than some of their awful 500-series "honeycomb-and-swoosh" shrouds (ike the 560 Ti seen below)

EVGA just stripped the Titan cooler off the 770 reference, and put in a cheap plastic one to make more profit. That's exactly what happened. Then they use the stripped coolers for later on and sell them in limited quantities.

The carbon fiber sticker was the coolest. I stopped caring when I realized they will all be face down towards the floor anyway. Why don't they flip the orientation if they want to make them all pretty so we aren't starring at PCB board?

AMD needs some time? I just spent over $1k on cards to get the best experience in game and they need more time? How about don't release them until these huge issues are worked out? Why do I, the consumer, have to look for solutions outside of what is provided by the product i just purchased? This isnt marketing BS, this is real life experiences. I didnt' swear off AMD bc someone told me this...

Funny, I've had two different CF 7970 setups over the last year and I curiously NEVER had only 50% usage and stuttering. PEBKAC?

For the price, it around the same performance as the HD7970GE... Some tests better and some tests worst.
Props to NVidia though for keeping the prices fair. But wouldn't make sense to charge any more than $400 for a card that's on par with the competitor card of equal performance.

BUT... does this mean the HD7970 GE will go down in price with this? Would it be smart for AMD to do this? maybe $30 or so?

I'm somewhat surprised that they've got four 4GB models (standard w/ blower, FTW w/ ACX, Classified w/ blower, and Classified w/ ACX) in the pipeline. I guess that they're thinking that a not-insignificant amount of people will be going for the 4GB models this time around.

So the only game you play is Civilization? tongue.gif

It's a great card at stock but it doesn't beat an overclocked 7970 when both cards are taken to the max.

You wear a hat?

no maybe $70- $100.

Fact of the matter is, AMD cards wont fly off shelves whether they offer better value for money or not.
Reason being all the bad mouthing that goes against them
