Could it maybe be that it can't beat Titan scores?

$409.99 (EVGA.com) - $120 (EVGA Bucks) = $289.99. Add to that the fact that I just won $275 playing blackjack in Reno and it is tempting. And I just realized EVGA is giving free backplates with every gtx 770 purchase.

I really wanna wait for maxwell though.

Go for it!

On the chart I saw.... i saw a 780 above many Titans. That is proof enough sir.

Yes it can top benchmarks and performs very well in games.

Twist the truth however you want to.

In Sep 2009, the HD 5870 launched at USD 400. In Dec 2010 the HD 6950 was launched at USD 300. here in May 2013 after more than 3.5 years from HD 5870 launch and 2.5 years from HD 6950 launch we have roughly 2x the performance with the GTX 770.

For comparison the 55nm HD 4870 launched at USD 300 in June 2008. 2.5 years later the HD 6950 launched in Dec 2010 and by similar comparisons was roughly 2x perf with full DX11 support.

With normal competition we would see the same GTX 770 performance at USD 300. the GK104 needs to sell for USD 300 and GK110 3GB for USD 600. But by GK110 3GB I mean a 2688 sp card with 3GB. This can happen if AMD responds strongly with a 28nm refresh. Until then 28nm generation from both vendors is one of the worst for perf / $ .

I loathe the idea that $400 for a top end GPU is "a deal" according to some reviewers ... so I concur with your post.

$300 top end means the midrange is $200-250ish (where it is now) which is good instead of the insane pricing for HD7870s ($350 at launch, wth.gif) and GTX 660 Ti ($300 launch).

==============

And the GTX 770 reference cooler may be "beautiful" but the 34dB is really loud for something that is only ~230W TDP (and that heat is not from more FP64 compute like on TITAN/ HD7970/HD7950 /HD7870 Tahiti). We're talking about aftermarket, not reference: http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/ASUS/GeForce_GTX_770_Direct_Cu_II_OC/26.html , http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Palit/GeForce_GTX_770_Jet_Stream/26.html

edit: Legitreviews says "The ASUS GeForce GTX 770 DirectCU II OC has two 80mm cooling fans for doubled airflow." which is ridiculous when it should have 92mm fans at a minimum (the MSI GTX 770 Gaming uses 100mm fans now).

edit2: also this shows you should never believe AMD/NVIDIA. No new cards til Q4 2013 , yeh right.

Alatar, why are you arguing with some dude with an 8320 system and calling it "Intel Killer"? Doesn't get much more hardcore than that. It's directly proportional to the energy he will suck out of you rolleyes.gif

Don't actually know. And this is a 770 thread.

Ignorance is a bliss I guess, lets continue with the 770 tongue.gif
