oh don't worry I still hold all of my previous opinions....

It's just been a while since there was an argument where the obviously better performer was an AMD part.

And yes that was a joke. Somewhat at least.

Still not jumping on the 700 series yet. Just gonna grab myself another 580 this fall for most likely $200 or less and call it good until the next generation.

yw thumb.gif I also got my DCII top 670 at a good price last year. if the 670's go down into 7950 territory that would be nice. then that could push 7950's down and then maybe the mid range cards would go down to the price range they should have been at for the last 9 months.

Of course a bunch of Titans would be better, however I don't see how that has anything to do with this. I run a Titan myself. The 770/680 still don't beat the 7970 for single card usage when both are overclocked.

Wait what? Are you saying an overclocked 7970 is within 5% of a stock Titan?

I'd like to see proof of this.

Nothing has changed in the 7970 vs 680 battle here other than the name is now 770. The 7970 (notice how I didn't say anything about GE) is cheaper, faster, OC's better with unlocked voltage, has a massive games bundle, and more VRAM. What's hard to understand about that? Your worthless chart is meaningless when OC's come into play...

And what people get excited over is their own business, thanks. Who are you to judge what people get excited over?

What has changed between the battle is the 770 is $50 LESS than 7970GE and is FASTER at stock. It's also faster than the 7970 at stock for the same price.

Alatar says you gain 30% from overclocking the 7970, which would put you within 5% of a Titan. You paid a 122% price premium to replace 7970's, I'm sure they're not as great as they are hyped to be, otherwise, why would people like yourself pay as much $600 more per card to replace them? That sends me the message that they weren't that good to begin with.

Saying the 7970 is cheaper, coming from you is NOTHING to be taken seriously when the difference is only $30 for 1 card, the majority are $399+, whereas in your case you paid $600 to replace each card.

And an overclocked 7870 xt is faster than a 7970 probably. Stock performance is irrelevant here

All I'm saying is, most people don't care if the 7970 is faster OC'ed vs a 770 at stock.

If they did, why didn't more people buy 7970's over the more expensive 680's?

If the 670 outsold both the 7950 & 7970 combined with their game bundle on top, I'm sure the 770 is going to continue to outsell both the 7970 & 7950 at that $400 price point.
