Crysis 3 came out after this review. It will use more then 2GB with all the eye candy turned up. This occurs even at 1080p.

i'm sure more than 2GB is being used at 5760 x 1080 on all of those games, fortunately it doesn't really affect FPS

This evaluation has concluded that there isn't any advantage, even in the latest games, to using an ASUS GeForce GTX 670 DirectCU II 4GB video card over a 2GB equivalent for a single-display gaming. We can honestly say now that 2GB is "good enough" even in the latest games like Far Cry 3 and Hitman and Sleeping Dogs for single display gaming on a GeForce GTX 670. The fact is, the performance isn't high enough with a GTX 670 GPU to allow the advantage of 4GB of memory at 1080p or 2560x1600. When we also consider the ability to run NV Surround resolutions off of one video card, the GeForce GTX 670 GPU itself again is not powerful enough to benefit from the 4GB.

Therefore, we can conclude, if you are going to be getting a GeForce GTX 670, and only sticking to single-card, single display gaming, or even NV Surround, 2GB models are the better value. However, next week, we are going to evaluate the ASUS GeForce GTX 670 DirectCU II 4GB using two video cards, with SLI, in NV Surround and see if the extra money for 4GB is worth it in that scenario, so stay tuned.

People suggest not getting the 4gb editions because they really don't show much performance increase at all to justify the price, not for single monitor setups anyhow. By the time you get around to using that much Vram your going to need a multi-GPU solution or Titan. Even then i would want more than one Titan.

nice pick-up on the 770 Lightning..
I'm not really a fan of Gigabyte GPU's but I hear some WF3's can really run hard if not buggy.

thanks friend +rep you since you always been super helpful towards me !

i am hoping the Lightning does at least 1300 core and 8k mem and that the cooler is powerful and Silent at the same time! *something the Gigabyte Windforce 3 was*

i am honestly at the point i just want to close my case and be done with it for a bit so i can enjoy , BF3, Crysis 3 and finally play my copy of Bioshock infinite! (not to mention i still havent played my Batman's and Farcry Blood dragon copies )

i read amazing things about the Lightnings and hopefully is all true!

will most likely get a second one with a 120hz monitor for BF4 if my business does well! *starting my own gig*

so does Gigabyte always clock their core/boost speeds higher than MSI because that seems to be what they did on the 770.
^ This may be why you had problems. gigabyte was about 80MHZ more on both. Any comparos on the twin frozr/Windforce yet?
