^ This may be why you had problems. gigabyte was about 80MHZ more on both. Any comparos on the twin frozr/Windforce yet?

apparently the Lightning is monumentally bigger! ....i wonder what the difference would be cooling wise

if the fans are the same size and heat pipes the same as well...?
the clocks are slightly lower then the TF will run possibly 1-3C cooler in my opinion.
the Lightning being bigger and higher clocked in theory should run slightly hotter with more space to cool.

but that's an opinion as I only took physics in school one semester.. tongue.gif

Thanks guys.
Well I found this one comparing lightning to the $50 less windforce and the lightning is definitely underwhelming for the price difference. In some cases the windforce is even scoring better.wth.gif I'm guessing MSI spent more on making higher quality components etc but it hasn't resulted in really any noticible performance improvements.

The windforce seems to be the best value if you want the overclock, but it makes me wonder how reliable it will be since MSI put all those upgrades into the card that I don't think gigabyte did.
If it's between the red MSI and the Asus, just pick the one you think is prettier I guess.

that's not enough testing results to prove anything really, I call it a push because you do not know of any influencing variables..
for example the Heaven benchmark, 7/10 times you run it you get different minimum frame scores from stuttering at launch.

Easy. Chill. Breathe. Give it a few weeks. nVidia's high VRAM offerings often come two weeks after initial launch.
