A overclockable 7970 is a very good option still. Just have to be careful as most models are voltage locked now. 3gb vram and a 1200mhz overclock will topple a OC'd 770 at a cheaper price.

With that being said, NVIDIA has a big advantage with features.

SLI far superior to Crossfire, PHSYX, Lightboost, SGSSAA, 3dvision etc to name a few. If you are not interested in any of that then it should make your decision easier.

idk look at the 13. drivers for the 7970! i was reading how the new boost is still not perfect and drivers would make it shine!

Maybe some of you can chime in on my stepup decision choices. I have a poll but would appreciate any comments/input.

Don't really know where Physx will show in the future. Don't most games the ability to disable this? I'm thinking about Borderlands 2... considering that was the last time I had heard about it.

The several posts concerning 7970's do make a good point. I honestly will hold out, but I may think about buying a catleap later this summer / year. The 9000 series is really slated for this year? Are they really going with the 8000 rebrands? and not just doing a new 8000 series?

I probably won't make a decision until the end of the month anyways at least. I would want to see if there's any price drops in the next couple of weeks. And, my gtx 580 hasn't quite been with me 2 years yet either. I may wait for that date (around August).

No one knows whether it's the 8000 or 9000 series is coming. We only know that something is coming at the end of this year. It hasn't been confirmed weather it's Sea Islands or Volcanic Islands.

So is the 770 a worthy upgrade from my 5850 at this point? or will i be regretting the 2 gig's of VRAM in the near future when the new consoles release?
Wondering if i should jump on this now or save some more and pony up for a 780.

Edit: Using a 3570k.

Assuming that you're running a 1920x1080 monitor as seen in your sig rig, it would be a fine upgrade both for now and the foreseeable future.

I'll be purchasing a 144 hz monitor as well, but yes, 1080p still; thanks, will jump on a 770.
