proof.gif?

Seems a bit of a generalisation what exactly makes the 4GB version useless?

Because it uses the same "slow" 256 bit memory bus speed unlike the 780 and Titan using 384.

Look at the reviews and compare them to any 670/680 with similar clocks speed. It's the same card with better memory.

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

And about the vram usage, it's not because your gpu USE 3tb or VRAM that it NEEDS to use 3tb of vram. There arent any game out there that will be limited by kepler's memory bus / size in 1080p. Not even ''skyrim with lots of mods''.

Hell, I was playing skyrim with a dozen of mods at relase with my 6850s in crossfire and I never had any stuttering/issues whatsover.

this summary in this review might interest your thoughts..

Conclusion
So, what can we glean from all of that? For one thing, with any single monitor the 2GB video card is plenty - even on the most demanding games and benchmarks out today. When you scale up to three high-res screens the games we tested were all still fine on 2GB, though maxing out some games’ settings at that resolution really needs more than a single GPU to keep smooth frame rates. With the right combination of high resolution and high detail, though, there is the potential for 2GB to be insufficient. For future games, or perhaps current games that were not tested in this article, you might be better off with a 4GB card if - and only if - you plan to run across a multi-screen configuration.
