Final checklist before purchase

Thread Starter
AMD A10-5800K
Kingston HyperX 8GB 1600MHz
Asus F2A85-M LE (a85)
Corsair CX500M (500W obviously, some extra watts for possible upgrades)
Samsung 840 120GB
Some cheapo mid tower case

I haven't been following any news on tech related stuff for some time now and a friend of mine is going to buy a system tomorrow, we worked this list out in kind of a hurry so I need a little help from you guys.

I'm not 100% sure on the a10, is the 5800k really necessary? He intends to do some casual gaming, and with a low budget (400-500) I think it's better to go with the integrated graphics rather than buying an extra GPU, at least according to a few benchies I checked out, right?
Oh and the motherboard... Apparently a75/a85 is the way to go with FM2? Comments?

Since you're using the APU GPU I would recommend higher speed ram, it really effects the APU performance.

Yeah I've changed the RAM for a 1866 kit. Any other suggestions regarding the build in general? Is APU the way to go? (400-500€)..

Personally I'd see how Haswell performs before going for an APU. If it's as bad as pre-reviews show, the APU may perform and overclock better. Going with an APU/AMD GPU may actually be the smartest move considering the fact that all next gen consoles are using AMD APU's. Console ports will likely respond better to AMD tech. I'm not 100% familiar with APU's though. I'm still using a 2700k @ 5ghz, since all Intel CPU have been trash since then.

This.

I remember reading about how the top end Haswell intergrated graphics are supposed to compete with the GT 650M. Seeing as the 640M out-performs the APU, it may be worth waiting to see how the onboard graphics for Haswell perform.

Edit: Here's the article.

there already been benchmarks released showing the 6800k GPU smoking hasewells ass in GPU plus GPU isn't really Intel's good depart end I dought they beat 5800k in graphics.
