That an excellent build and no i dont need a monitor. If i wasnt so picky about how things look i would find this much easier :L but sadly i am and its all got to be themed and look fancy :L hopefully i will be able to earn some cash in the summer as it seems a job has arose. Then i have a good selection. And when it comes to buying time i will post my parts up here smile.gif

Lol ... unfortunately in you budget you are indeed limited to either form OR function.

You'll not get the most for your money in attempting to get both.

I would suggest you look to the 7870 XT LE as a good compromise for the GPU. Based on the 7900 cores but cut down to 256 bus 2gb RAM. Still overclocks like the clappers. You'll get beastly performance, and they can be found pretty cheap.

Go for the Intel. Seriously. I understand wanting the AMD FX 6300 build (I nearly got one instead of my rig), and I understand the aesthetic imperative, but you'll be happier in the long run for performance over pretty.

The only exception to that is if you REALLY love tinkering overclocking and silly-awesome cooling - cause a 6300 at over 5ghz will be so much fun to achieve. Then again, you can always de-lid your Ivy Bridge.

Strike a balance, but don't get worse hardware just because you want it to look pretty, when you can kinda have both, and when you really don't have the budget to do anything amazing (no offence of course).

Can I ask what your requirements are visually/theme-wise?

Yeah my budget is restricting me but im going to try and accumulate some more money so i can really get what i want hardware and visually. I am an overclocker which was another thing that drew me, and this system is going to watercooled ( just the cpu ) i will be saving up for that no doubt. And visually i want it black and red, its going to have a black mobo, black fans, black res and cpu block. With red tubing and coolant and some red cathodes.

By the way, can anyone point me in the right coolant direction? Ive heard alot of bad things about EK red coolant?

This 7870 XT LE is a good card, i have heard from many people that after OCing it a bit it can perform VERY WELL. Best bang for your buck card if your on a budget. I do advise intel over AMD when budget is not a problem, however this is not the case. Can you tell us some of the games that you will be playing? Some games are more CPU intensive while others are more GPU intensive. My current 8150 rig runs fine, however it outputs a lot of heat being AMD and does not have the best performance in games. I find games CERTAINLY playable, but the i5 will beat my CPU in EVERYTHING hands down.
