Combine different size memory kits

Thread Starter
I've a 16gb Dominator Plat kit right now and saw a cragslist for an 8gb dom plat for cheap. Can I combine these two or will I run into problem if I don't buy another 16gb kit?

If they are the same speeds then it should work in theory but it is always best to use matching sets.
