Could always grab some 2133 memory if you plan on staying 1366 awhile longer

No one buying a prebuilt is going to know. How many people buying Dells or HPs do you think run Realtemp? One? Plus, those aren't stock clocks.

It's basically an Ivy Bridge, and they sold just fine. Man, there is some serious sky is falling going on around here lately.

Remember, not all bloomfield can clock the uncore to 4Ghz + with reasonable voltages. It was easier for gulftown, but takes a very good bloomfield IMC to pull it off.
Better off finding a good used kit of hypers to run 1866 - 2000 with great timings.

touche ftw. touche.

i just got out of WCing cause it ended up costing more than slapping an air cooler in when i change sockets and gfx cards.

considering my idle is mid 30s and load is mid 60s im not complaining

Of course it costs more, but you're getting more performance -.-'

Sorry it just sounds like you're blaming WC'ing for being expensive but .. idk it's dumb tongue.gif everyone knows it's more expensive

also, if you keep all your stuff, good companies would usually send you out the new mounting hardware if you ask for it. it's literally pennies for a plate and 4 screws

dude, how are they not going to know??

I work with pre-builts at my 9-5 and most of them are Dell Inspirons (grey tower) that are running old Intel dual cores that barely hit 50c at stock with a massive dell OEM heatsink (no dedicated GPU). The ones running i3 and i5's are running much cooler.

Imagine that same tower (or similar) with a CPU that is 15-20c warmer and add a GPU to the equation. The end result will be horrible unless your office or house is running ambients in the mid to high 60's.

Intel’s upcoming Core i7-4770K Haswell CPU reaches 100°C with the stock cooler at stock speeds. Guys over at ChinaDIY got their hands on a retail unit of the upcoming processor and they put it to some testing. According to them, the stock Intel cooler is no good, not even if you want to run the system at stock speeds. Their processor had stock voltage for 1.2v and after even less than a minute of Intel Burn Test, the core temperatures reached 100°C. They changed the cooler to Prolimatech Basic-81 but even that couldn’t bring the temperatures considerably down.

Coming to overclocking, the retail chip needed around 1.45v to hit 4.85 GHz. That’s around the same kind of voltage Ivy Bridge needs for similar clocks. The internal GPU of the Core i7-4770K got overclocked to 1.6 GHz with load temperature of 74°C. All in all, in terms of overclocking and heat output, Intel seems to be pulling another Ivy Bridge all over again. However, I would not form an opinion about it just now as real picture will only come out after the official release next week but the initial impressions do not look that good.

work in the IT dept. where we fix/repair/upgrade a ton of different pre-built's ranging from Dell to IBM (2006-2013 models).
