[AnandTech]Razer Announces Haswell-based Blade, Blade Pro Gaming Notebooks (NOW WITH VIDEO) - Page 2

Thread Starter
honestly i cannot look past that res, but the machine itself has very good build quality, being all aluminum, that is hard to find now and days. Only place you will find that is on a macbook pro, but IMO i think the macbook pro retina might be a better deal for the first time, due to the very high res display, the build quality, and the gt 650m is def capable for gaming on the go, and of course the customer service. for a few hundred more you get a way better res then that, ips panel. As far as gaming goes, the card thats in this machine will let you pump out some high fps at that res without a sweat. It will be a difficult decision for me since i was going to get a macbook retina in the near future, but in the upcoming apple conference, if they announce the new retina refresh with haswell and 7 series gpu from nvidia, at the same price point (which they usually stay the same) then im sold.

Nope. Totally not surprised from Razer. Actually if you hunt deals, you can get a good M17x for a lot less than you think (and is way better than this).

People gotta remember
Its also priced more because Razer does not have the massive manufacturing orders like Dell or ASUS to build cheaper.
Credit where its due though, hard pressed to find anything with a better GPU in that form factor outside the 15" Retina or 15" ASUS Zenbook Prime both go for more which both have a GT650 only.

That resolution isn't too bad for a screen of that size. It also means that games can be run at native resolution more easily.

That said, you are paying a massive premium for what is essentially the form factor.

I think this is SWEET all the way. For someone who travels A LOT this is the best laptop out there. Yes a Lenovo Y580 can keep up with it, but it also weight 5.95 plus the power supply which will probably add another 2 pounds. At 1600x900 much better then 720P plus with a 765 powering this, it will keep your graphics settings high. Cant wait to see when they start shipping. Now to debate between this one, the new 14" from MSI and the New Sager 13". Decisions Decisions Decisions. It will probably come down to weight/price.

The GPU should perform very well at that resolution. I've been looking for a very compact gaming laptop/ultrabook for some time, but Razer is not getting my money. It's a nice machine though, I'm genuinely impressed with how compact it is. Overpriced sure, surely that comes as no surprise to anyone

14" 1080p is too small imo, unless you DPI scale and lose some screen realestate. for a 14" at typically further viewing distances than a 10" or 12" display 1600 x 900 is sufficient and gives you another 10% gpu to play with
post #19 of 92
That price is a bit much for what you get, but I like the laptop.
