Far cry 3 made sense that you need certain materials for upgrades and the best stuff was the most work and dangerous. tomb raider felt real because at the beginning she couldn't roller and other things due to her injuries. It felt natural that you also needed materials and you could only upgrade at a camp fire where you are safe, have the time and the light to work on these upgrades. It just felt right.

I do like good game play other wise I would hate borderlands based on being "gamey" but I love them both. Maybe the reason I didn't like Deus ex HR and dishonored was because I was enjoying more real life like games then games that are realistic. One of my friends raved on about dishonored so I bought it. Maybe it just feels like such an old game play style for me. On that note I'm re playing HL2 for i dont know the 10th time maybe?

Deus Ex HR has a learning curve for how to upgrade and what does what since there is so much. I can see the potential. Just got bored of it after a few hours of game play. not that much different from say splinter cell(the first three not the crap out now) and rainbow six Vegas.

Old gameplay style? If you're referring to the setting of the game, yeah it's not modern, it's a very distinct mix. Though if you mean the style is like that of older games, not really. It does take some inspiration from Thief, but it's much more advanced at the same time. It's one of few mainstream games that actually shows big improvements over games from, say, a decade ago.

lol it's not really like those. I guess the cover system is similar to Rainbow Six: Vegas, that's it. RB6V is a forgiving tactical shooter, not a stealth RPG. Deus Ex HR's stealth mechanics are very different than that of Splinter Cell, and it emphasizes exploration and character interaction which none of those do. Plus, Deus Ex HR is a story driven RPG unlike any of those, and they don't even attempt to provide the same level of detail that Deus Ex HR does.

I disagree about HR. The story is pretty great, but there are so many things wrong with it, in my opinion. Combat is unnecessarily hard, stealth is unnecessarily easy (2 enemies following 5 feet behind each other, and you can snap the trailing enemy's arm and flip him onto his back while he grunts and groans, and his weapon clatters to floor, and the front enemy never notices), EVERYTHING is solved by hacking, air ducts take you where you want to go and ONLY where you want to go, the world is actually rather small and cramped once you explore, and the boss fights are utterly atrocious.

I don't think it was a bad game overall, but I certainly didn't think it was anywhere near "great," and given how everyone and their dog seemed to RAVE about it, I was rather intensely disappointed.

To each their own, though, of course.

I definitely agree about boss fights, though the Director's Cut supposedly fixes that. It's not a massive sandbox world, true, nor is it supposed to be. It provides lots of alternate paths, plenty of exploration, and excellent attention to detail which I love.

There are a number of air ducts that lead to multiple places. It's true that stealth can be too easy at times, though the challenging combat is fitting since it emphasizes stealth. Plus I prefer the lower bullet count like this, opposed to bullet sponge player and enemies.

I don't want to apologize for the reactions of the woman filming because they are not my fault, and you never apologize for something that isn't your fault. BUT I'M SORRY.

Just turn down your headset/speakers.

this was probably posted in a da:3 hype thread around here somewhere, but I didn't check.... figured it would fit in well here with all the da talk.

Well atm I have Assassins Creed III, Crysis 3, Dishonored (has an annoying saving bug, do a lvl and it dont save mad.gif), Hitman Absolution, Splinter Cell Black list & Skyrim installed and I just couldnt be bothered to finish any of them, there either repetitive, crap story, crap game play or just plain boring

Other games I gave up on was Tomb Raider, Oblivion, F.E.A.R. Series, Just Cause 2, Mercenaries 2, Metro 2033 (more cos I had a crap pc at the time) & Ghost Recon Future Soldier (really stupid game play to be honest)

*patiently waits to get flamed*

I only got about half an hour into Dishonored and I haven't gone back

it's not that I hate it, it's just I don't find ANYTHING appealing about it. nothing in the first few minutes grabbed me - it just felt very, very generic. why do I care that this character was framed for murder? why do I care about this queen or her daughter (other than the fact that she's voice acted by Chloe Grace Moretz)? now when I see it on my steam list when I'm in the mood to play something, I just look at it and say "what for? why do I care?"

for all the praise it got, I was expecting to get immersed in it.../shrug
