No, buy a single 780 later and sli the 670's at that time.
  • 27% (6)
Yes, step up to 770 for better performance now and get another later.
  • 54% (12)
Yes, step up to 780 for much better performance and get another much later(I already work 60 hours a week...dang!).

Ok here is the situation: I currently have 2 gtx 670ftw 2gb cards, one in each of my builds. My plan was to one day upgrade in one machine and sli the two cards in the other.

Now comes the dilemma: I have 30 days left to step up my second 670.

Here are the options:
  1. Keep original plan
  2. Step up to vanilla 770 2gb for like $30
  3. Step up to vanilla 780 3gb for like $280

With any of the options I would eventually be adding a second for sli(hopefully!). Also, the vanilla versions of the cards are all that are available to step up to at the moment(usually it is this way I understand).

Any input would be greatly appreciated! I just can't decide! Seems dumb not to upgrade at least to a 770 for such little money, I just wish the 770 had the 780/Titan reference blower/cooler(just those darned aesthetics!).

The poll is set to close June 14, but I would like to decide before then because I don't know for sure how long the 770/780 will be available to step up. Thanks again to all!

My 670 FTWs seem to be going strong, trying to get a "feel" of what the 770 offers, but still love my setup. If you can step up both I would think it would be worth it, otherwise you would spend way too much. I also have the "upgrade bug" at the moment. Choices choices. My issue is that the only game that seems to be worth upgrading for is Witcher 3 which won't release til next year, so maybe I should just save up?

Upgrade to the GTX 780 and have one monster card and a pretty good card in both builds. Near Titan performance for an extra $280. No need to sli with a GTX 780 in 99% of games on a single screen.

What screen resolution are you working with?

You said it yourself you want the Titan/GTX 780 reference cooler. Honestly, there isn't much gain coming from a GTX 670 to a GTX 770.
With a GTX 780, you'll be set with 3gb of vram too.

I only use a 1080p 60"sony sxrd right now. That is why I orginally got a 2gb card last year in April. But then I picked up a fractal define r4 case this March and the spending bug was on. Now I have another complete setup with the second 670 due for step up. (I just couldnt wait for the new 700 cards at the time I guess!)

For the 770 what does EVGA send out the card with ref cooler or can you get the ACX? I just bought the 660 ti FTW 2gb Sig 2 about two weeks ago from amazon. I can prob always get a refund from amazon.

I would totally get a refund if I was you. You probably paid like 250 minimum right? Step up at 400 for the 770 over the 660 TI would be well worth it. You can only step up to the reference version of the 770 or 780. Otherwise on the list to step up to it is a 680+ 4gb. No ACX option yet though...I wish tho.

I paid $300 for the 660 Ti, its the FTW Sig 2 version.....top of the line 660 Ti you can get in terms of stock power.

Yeah definitely I would return it. $100 more and you get something better than a 680.

I too have this same problem with my 670 FTW, would switching to the 770 be worth it if im going to have some downtime ? I didnt do the cross-shipment registration in the first 30 days but im still under my 90 day period of EVGA step up.... my card does 1202 stock on boost and im already happy.... all l i read is a beefier memory clock but idk if thats worth having the week or two of downtime for a card that just OC's a little better than my 670 FTW ? but still not a lot because of the voltage cap ? so its not even worth it cause of the voltage cap on 600/700 series right ??? Its pretty much a 680 that is OC'ed more at stock??? but doesnt have any OC power ?
