Jquery question

I do not have any significant experience with web design. But as I am working for a small company they wish for me to give it a go so to speak. I do wear the IT hat, but my usual tasks are SQL related, POS installs on and off site, Server maintenance/installation/upgrade. As such I like to feel I'm not a complete idiot.

But there's so much I'm realizing I don't know. Egad.

Here's my question. I wish to bascially copy paste a section of a website I came across. No, I don't want it verbatim. I want the widget and the formatting. I can fill in the actual data (I hope). I assume there is nothing illegal about that? Here's the page in question

LINK

Seems they are referencing script files located publicly on google for the slider. Or maybe I'm in left field? I wish to incorporate it in a wordpress website hosted through godaddy. I have the entire master suite tool wise, but really only use photoshop with any regularity.

Cheers

A lot of people include JQuery through a CDN -- you'll often see something like this in the header :
Code:
<script src="http://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.10.0.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
The website you linked seem to have implemented their own image slider. If you want to do this yourself, it'll be easier to use one of the many freely licensed JQuery image/content sliders that are out there, such as bxSlider or AnythingSlider.

The best solution would probably be to use a wordpress plugin. This will likely be the most solid solution.

No doubt.

I guess the reason I wanted to use that specific slider was the call it included for the catalog data. I can implement an image slider easily for sure, but does anyone know of a slider that calls the accompanying info for a specific slide into the page?

Alternatively, any slide that would allow to me to place said data into tables as noted in the website listed in my first post?

Thanks!

One of the js files included (catalog_new.js) makes a few AJAX requests to a couple of php files on the server (catalog_columns.php, catalog_header.php, catalog_spec_sheet.php, catalog_footnotes.php). The script uses the jQuery load function, which makes this type of request easy.

With some of these content sliders they provide an event that fires when a slide is changed. You could take advantage of this to make an AJAX request to the server and then display the response on the client side.
