New to OC'ing...cant figure out ntune...

I have a new build with an evga nforce 680i mobo, and i cant figure out how to overclock through ntune. Granted i have never overclocked before, but i have the basic understanding and its supposed to be very simple to do through ntune, yet i cant seem to get it right. every time i mess around with the clock speeds and such, as soon as i reset my computer all of the system clocks and voltages reset as well...i dont know what to do?

nTune has been having some issues w/ saving Profiles.

Please start by filling out your system specs in the User CP link. Once you post the specs we will be able to of much greater assistance.

Oh! oops.. and sorry, Welcome to OCN.

Hi and welcome to the best forum on the net.If you can OC thru BIOS is more safe and better than ntune.

well you see, im really not sure how. In ntune its pretty straight forward but through my BIOS i cant figure out how to change the clock speeds anywhere..its all unavailiable. it will let me change voltages and the cpu multiplier (which i honestly dont know what that does anyway..) and the PCIe slots. Like i said im very new to overclocking i really dont know what im doing and im basicly looking for a way to slightly overclock the simplest way possible..i dont want anything extreme

oh and also, i know that ntune will automatically reset the changes if the overclock is unstable, i dont want to ruin anything by doing it through BIOS and having it save everytime..

Do you have a digital camera? If so, will you post some pics of your BIOS screens. I am have no direct experience with your Mobo or its' BIOS'. Regardless of the terminology or verbage, the principles remain the same, at least at our level. There are a number of members that are so advanced in this field that they speak in binary.

Perhaps one of the other members that has the same Mobo can give you some first-hand information. Take a look around, and if you see a member with your Mobo, PM them. Maybe they will reply....

But back to pics, please post some. In the meantime it is advisable that you do some reading on the principles of Overclocking. Understand the definitions and implications of the various terms that are involved. If you are uncertain what these are, look around the forum make note and then Google them. Know your hardware, with emphasis on thermal and voltage thresholds.

Since this is your first time, and this is a new rig (and a VERY nice one at that), I would recommend that you settle in, get to know your system and read, then read some more. The hardware isn't going anywhere and you will get much more out of your system with patience and a sound methodology...so give it a few days... just MHO.

Okay..... I will shut-up now...
