Need a little guidance...

Could you lovely chaps and ladies point me in the right direction for overclocking my FX 6300??

I have never done anything like this before and I am a wee bit nervous.. don't wanna break anything!!

My system has been stable now under load for a few weeks without issue.. I just wanna learn and perhaps crank it up a bit.. Nothing to heavy tho.. Yet!!

Cheers all

Andy

Start slow. Raise the clock little by little. I'm not a pro at OC but I know that is the basic

Be sure to follow the OC guides for your motherboard. Plenty can be found here on OCN:

I have downloaded AMD Overdrive.. Is it advisable to use this??

When you guys make adjustments, how long do you leave them or what do you run to decide if everything is "stable"?

Will overclocking my cpu make any difference to my gaming experience or is it overclocking for overclocking sake?

hello,
please read up on it first and please use bios to overclock,
but to get to 4ghz...
disable everything on the cpu advanced tab except cool and quiet,
disable that turbo core and change your multi to 20x, cpu load line to high or ultra high, voltage leave to off-set
and it runs at 4ghz,
change windows power option to balanced.
lose a little performance from the clock change but the down clocking will save a load of cash in electric.
when testing, turn the power option to high performance
