[Build Log] *Zebra II* - Watercooled 350D with GTX780 SLI - Page 7

Hi, congratulations on your build looks awesome.
I'm looking to do something similar and have 2 questions:

1.) I am planning ahead for easy draining of the loop. Is there enough room for a fitting at the bottom of the UT60?

Without modding the case? (drilling hole)

2.) I was about to get the Alphacool Repack Single Laing d5

but I am not too fond of the way you are supposed to fill the reservoir. That Koolance doesn't look half bad. Do you have to pull it out to fill it? Easy maintenance? Are you still happy with it?

Thanks for your feedback.

Merry X-Mas.

Thanks Spyrocheti! merry xmas to you too!

1) I would say that if you are planning on using the Corsair 350D, you will not have much space for a fitting at the bottom unless you are planning on drilling a hole at the bottom as you mentioned.

2) The Koolance bay res is really good (i only use one pump). It has plenty of filling ports that you can use as draining ports by turning the case upside down in a sink. It has two frontal ports and another two ports on the top, so two for each side of the res.  So you dont need to pull it out to fill it if you use the frontal ports.

My only complaint is that the first time you fill it up with coolant, it´s really hard to feed the water to the pump and get it going. You have to move the case around like crazy (~15 to 20 min the two times i've done it). After the water goes to the pump it works great.

are you able to verify the voltage output on your fan hub with a multimeter? i'm looking into getting that hub or a bits power one with 5/7v output as well/ but it costs $15 extra and comes with ugly leds.

Sorry, I don't have a multimeter :(

I would say the fans are spinning between 70 and 100% but just by the noise levels. No real way to know without the proper tools.

I´m looking for a way to regulate the fan hub a bit lower but I haven't found a solution other than installing fanspeed reducers, but these go too slow and the CPU goes over 80C while gaming.

Nice build mate. Im working on a 350d build myself and am looking around to get some idea's from similar builds smile.gif I see you went for a very slim rad up top, something i should have done to avoid fan problems.

How are you getting on with your PSU and the two 780's. Have you overclocked them at all yet?

The slim rad on top was inherited from my previous build and combined with the thicker NexXxos it´s more than enough, so i'm glad it worked out.

I switched to a 1000w EVGA Supernova G2, it was $109 after rebates on black friday and i thought it would be nice to completely overclock my GPU's.

To be honest, I think the 750w was enough for my rig. There were many issues with the computer when the 780's came out and then when BF4 came out but I could never tell if it was Nvidia's new drivers, BF4 being unfinished or the PSU (probably not) but I decided that it was a nice bargain and jumped on the sale.

I did overclock my 780's even with the 750w PSU and they do pretty well, could not be happier. the next thing I'm looking forward is a higher res monitor, or a faster refresh rate without losing the IPS quality.

What do you use for the GPU SLI fittings? Is that a EK SLI 3 slot fitting?

do you think SLI 780's with the acx cooler would fit?

I Just built a 350d / maximus v gene rig and am a little worried about space going sli in the future

They would probably fit, but getting plenty of fresh air to them could be an issue. The two front fans may supply enough cool air, but a side panel fan would likely help out. You would definitely want negative air pressure to suck all the heat out the back/top.
