How much Watts/electrcity do desktop really consume?

Question I ask is that my electricty bill has skyrockted from Feb to now.

I built my new gaming PC in March and the bill has incrementally risen.

Ive already taken into account about the other components that consume alot of power like my 50" plasma and A/c of course but im still trying to figure out the main consumer.

My desktop specs are at the bottom.

Are you folding or bit coin mining? These can cause quite a hike in power consumption. Your system at idle will use only a small amount of power. Unless you keep it under load there should be no massive power consumption increase.

Nope no folding or mining (wish i could mine though).... just overclocked components, web surf, and game.

Sometimes i leave the PC on or put it to sleep when Im not using it or when i leave the house for a little. When I go to bed or know ill be out for a while, then i turn off the PC.

Im also counting my 2 dual 24" monitors as PC components tongue.gif

Say 360 W while gaming, assuming heavier overclocks, including losses in the power supply. From the monitors, about 20 W each while on, depending on brightness, but only a couple watts total when on standby.

On sleep, power consumption should be minimal. Web surfing, depends on idle / OC settings, but around 100 W total for the system should be normal.

So even gaming 6 hrs / day and web surfing 12 hrs / day (uh, yeah...) and a relatively high electricity rate of 15 cents / kWh, that'd be 4 kWh a day, so $18 a month.

I'm going to second this explanation. The only way I'd be able to go further is if a relative difference in the electric bill is elaborated on.
