When to buy another GTX 670?

Thread Starter
I have just purchased the Asus 27" PB278Q off newegg:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

I have a single GTX 670 4gb evga that I'll be running it with, but I'm somewhat concerned with certain games not getting enough frames at this resolution (BF3 and Bioshock Infinite specifically). I really would like to grab another 670 for SLI to help with this issue, but with the release of the 700 series cards I wonder if I should wait to pick one up for a possible price drop. I've noticed that the 500 series really didn't waiver much in price even after the 600 series showed up, so I'm not sure what move I should make with grabbing another 670.

Any suggestions?

The MSRP for the 670 isn't going to drop, NVIDIA will just discontinue it.

Your best bet is to watch retailers' sites carefully, and be vigilant for liquidation sales on their now-outdated inventory.

The only other option is to keep an eye on the used marketplace. Surely some 670 4GB owners are going to sell their cards in order to upgrade to the 780.

I saw the same thing with the 500 series not moving in price. What kind of price drop are you expecting, 20-30 dollars would be pretty big and even for 20-30 dollars is it worth it to wait? If it was me I would just get the card now and not worry about the small savings. The sooner you get the card the more you can enjoy it, thats worth something also.

all you guys are mentioning getting used cards...that's always made me weary...

I have been watching ebay the last couple days and the 4gb versions of the cards are getting to around 350...is it worth the extra 60 bucks or so to just get a new card or is used really not as scary as I think it is...

Used if anything is better... know the OC, has the same warranty (depends on who you go with I suppose), and cheaper...

It depends on your tolerance for risk and the warranty policy of the AIB manufacturer of the given card...
