Max recommended temp on Gainestown Xeon

Thread Starter
I have an Intel Xeon L5520 running @ 3.4GHz (200x17) and I use this rig at night to fold. My hottest core (usually) hits between 70-72 degrees while folding and hits 75 during a large fft prime95 run on a hyper 212 evo. Can anyone tell me if these temps are safe for folding use?

Here are my volts:

Vcore: spikes between 1.224 and 1.232v under load
QPI: 1.37v
Dram: 1.65v

With these voltages, are my temps good for folding?

EDIT: Those were the voltages that I could remember off the top of my head, I'll maybe do a restart and post the rest of the voltages if necessary

Max recommended temp for you CPU is 70C as it is listed on the intel ark site: http://ark.intel.com/products/40201/Intel-Xeon-Processor-L5520-8M-Cache-2_26-GHz-5_86-GTs-Intel-QPI
i would recommend staying under 67C when folding.

I wouldn't worry about your prime95 peak temps, since you're unlikely to sustain that temp while folding. As for the Hyper 212 Evo, what fan speed are you running on it?

I keep the fans in my system at 100% all the time since they're rather quiet

I also have some freakishly high ambients in my room because my room for whatever reason doesn't get good airflow in the house. We are moving into a house that has much better air conditioning so I expect the temps on my cpu to drop to around ~65-68 on the hottest core

I turned HT off to see how it folded without it, and it actually runs a little bit faster while shaving 10 degrees off the hottest core. I'll just restart it and enable HT again whenever I need the extra threads again for games like World of Warcraft which uses 5-6 of my threads depending on my location in-game, or any recourse heavy games that benefit having extra threads running in the background
