Losing its touch........ - Page 2

I'm probably just getting super tired of it because I've been putting in a lot of time into a lot of games for so long. I'll end up taking a much-needed break.

That's fine too. I'll guarantee you that your gamer instinct will come back. Just one advice: Don't make the stupid mistake of selling your PC or console or whatever you have. You may not use them for 6 months, but then there's something that catches your attention and you are back on track.

gears was ok juries still out on god of war. ... but last game i could not put down..... katheryn. wicked story. actually challenging. and way fun. square lost it in their merge with enix. still put out decent games. and some really good ones. but a shell of the company who forgot what it is like to be bankrupt making your last game ( final fantasy ) and doing what people want, but not to the point that any idiot will finish it. to .... lets not make anything new and use old everything crap. the big heavy hitters.... they are tu used to it. and most of the starting staff has retired leaving some big buissness man sitting as CEO just wanting more monies.

please dont get me wrong. i have no problem with a company trying to make or MAKING profit. but you can worry about the money in which case your product will suck. or you can worry about making a fine product. and your money will take care of itself. .... companies seem to always do the former.... not the latter

I now buy games from Steam that literally cost me 10-25% of the original cost and this helps bring down my expectations. If I don't like the game then to hell with it, it was only 6 bucks! Haha. There is also a very great variety of indie games on Steam which I never would have given a second look.

TLDR;

I agree which has pushed me to mostly PC titles and wicked Steam deals.

Now I'm terrified of the flying spaghetti monster :'(

Hopefully with Planetside 2 coming to the PS4, it'll look like I can get a kinda/sorta PC experience on a console....1080p 60fps but won't look as pretty. If not then I don't see a point in upgrading to yet another console.

There's plenty of decent games, I just think you're looking in the wrong spot. Any big franchise you can except to be mediocre, as it's mass produced to sell as much as possible while their name still means a lot to the average user.

If you want good games you need to look at stuff like Arma 2, Minecraft, or Demons\Dark Souls. If you want something to play through once and have fun, there are plenty of games like Mirrors edge and Deus Ex: Human revolution that are well worth sale prices for a few playthroughs.
