I meant he wasn't posting it as a highest "system" draw as in nothing else was running on the PC that might cause the GPU to inflate the number.

To put things in perspective, that CPU would cost well over $600 a year to fold on at my address and that's probably a low estimate.

This is probably fake anyways.

220W TDP is plain nuts, I hope for amd's sake this chip will never see the light of day.

My 6100 is rated at 95W TDP and comes with 1.3V, with turbo of 1.4V. I can run at stock (no turbo) at 1.2V, and all 6 core at turbo speeds with 1.3V.

I'm sure AMD left lots of tweaking room by leaving the stock voltage a bit high.

Sweclockers are usually well informed. As for the cpu itself, it is more of a marketing exercise.

It actually won't in most games...because most games are GPU limited and run equally well on an FX-8350 as a i5 3570k/i5 4570k unless you're gaming at 720p or below. (In which case you're most likely above 60fps anyway)

220watts? Nope

Even if this was using an Ivy Bridge core 140w would be too tight to fit a 5Ghz stock chip in...The voltages you need are pretty high.

I have a hard time complaining about a power figure of a couple hundred watts. Any moderate overclock of a modern CPU is going to get into that territory, so why does it matter if one is sold that way from the start? If anything, 4.8 GHz on 220W is low (thus good).

That being said, I'm not sure I buy the validity of this annoucement. The model numbers don't seem right and a 220W TDP is a completely new power bracket. It sounds likely to be more conjecture akin to the "Centurion" we heard about a while back, at least with these figures. It's not to say AMD isn't planning a new, higher model.
