From reading the guide, it seems like manual voltage could be the way to go since the VID jumps so significantly under AVX-type loads.  Might really make it hard to stress test - and could result in significant temp differences (even more than usual) between stress testing and gaming.  The guide also mentioned that not all chips could use the 166 strap, and none of them could use the 200.

Here's the guide, if anyone wants to read it:

No, but you should use a new version of Aida64 for stress testing. Prime will still get the chip hot and do a basic stability test, but it never tested integer, crypto, etc. Now with new kinds of instructions with a new architecture, Prime et al. are very very out of date, and don't test a lot of what's on the chip.

with delid 15c at least going down, time will tell i guess tomorrow we will already have delided cpus chips

OC3D Review Vid:

Written review: http://www.overclock3d.net/reviews/cpu_mainboard/intel_core_i7-4770k_review/1

I am not impressed, especially after what the Intel employee did on his AMA on reddit in which he said that OCing Haswell would be great...doesn't look like it to me yet, especially with the thermals I have seen. I guess a custom loop will be necessary if you really want to get the best out of this new chip. I will really have to debate whether to upgrade my 1156 875K for the 4770K or not... I guess I will need to take a look at Ivy sales!

Pass. Barely any improvements over ivy or sandy bridge, and sandy has been here for over 2 years. Next year is intels tick (die shrink) cycle, so its not going to get any better.
Intel needs to completely revamp their architecture before AMD passes them in straight CPU power when excavator arrives, like AMD has already crushed intels IGP offerings.

The HardOCP review didn't think Aida64 was a very good stress test.

As of writing this I am still running long term testing at 5GHz, and I have seen a bit more throttling as the system gets heat saturated, but honestly I do not truly find value in this Aida64 "stress test." The fact of the matter is that even though Aida64 shows my system to be "stable," this is not true. All you have to do is start Handbrake, and use it to encode a Bluray rip at 1080P and the system will hard-lock. Your mileage may vary, but I am going to stay old school in terms of how we decide if hardware is "stable."

Seems like we're going to need a new way to check if a system is stable...

Kind of sad to see this, maybe we'll see some better results from users soon. Guess ill just go along with deliding my 3570k, those gigabyte motherboards are so tempting though D:

10 % in most bench, some 8, some 13 clock for clock. It also seems like temp are the problem to overclock and not the voltage like Ivy but you can delid and usually on overclock.net people got good water cooler to keep em cool. Seems not bad if you ask me + Idle power consumption is a massive setup over ivy. It pull 299 watt on the wall with an OC ov 4.6 with a 7970 ram/hdd/ssd/h100i while gaming, that's impressive. Not an upgrade worthy for ivy user but WHO THE **** NEED TO UPGRADE CPU EVERY YEAR GUYS ? This isn't 1999 where cpu are made of rock and sticks tied with tape and every cpu is a large margin year after year. I think 5% IPC + half the power consumption at idle is a pretty good. Intel just need to get 2 more core for mainstream soon, that would be cool
