[Various] Intel Haswell Reviews - Page 39

Geesh there seems to be alot of hate, I am excited to see what this new processor and mobo offerings brings to the table. If its bad so be it, I doubt its going to be as bad as it being made out to be. I have a 5ghz stable FX-8350, I can bench it at 5.4ghz, I play games at 5 and it plays everything just fine, I just want to try something new. It will be fun to learn how to overclock a new system and play....why not have fun with you have and be open to other things as well. I will have both AMD and INTEL and I will enjoy both.

AMD needs to come down on it's TDP and increase IPC and I believe single core performance is still important
even with so many multi-threaded advancements going on, does it not still make a stronger chip.. wink.gif
Piledriver was something for Deneb C3 and Thuban runners to consider but Bulldozer was a step back.
AMD lost me sometime back when my 980BE @ 4.3GHz still got it's arse beat by a stock i5-2400 and then the release of Bulldozer.
I would say A10-5800K APU is a good little chip to work with but shortly the A10-6800K will replace it.
That will make a killer HTPC.

I have been saying for days now, the best chip right now is a delidded 3770K.

Well with the current wins in console they will have more free cash available to put money into desktop cpu's besides all the money they have to put in their mobile line up to secure their future.
No need for pre-mature judgement yet besides my i7 3820QM seems to do about the same as its Haswell equivalent as I don't use the IGP and Virtu Logic sucks.

Am i blind or do all the reviews just vaguely touch the temps subject but never talk numbers?

The temps from the reviews range from terrible to the same as Ivy ( which wasn't good). TTL's video showed that his 4770k @ 4.6GHz using around 1.2v hit 91c on one of the cores during the LinX test in OCCT. That was with the H100 cooling it in a ~20c room.

Haswell is mainly an upgrade in the iGPU more than anything.

I'm a little disappointed about the iGPU results, netting approximately 5 fps more than HD4000. I'm confused by vortex.net's review seeming as the HD4000 out performed the HD4600 by 30 fps in Dirt 3, I now presume that this is driver related more than anything else.

I know that this is only what Intel are calling GT2, but GT3e, Iris Pro, HD5200 looks phenomenal, NVidia 640M/650M, mainly 640M comparable results!

OK, NDA is up so let's see some positive OC information. Hope it's not a flood of de-lidding how-tos.

Yeah, CL3P20's 4.8GHz at under 1v "leak/hype" doesn't seem to be anywhere near the average.

[H] wins for best review IMO.

Its not my fault folks got worse CPU's than my current...

Find me an Intel chip that can match the APUs in gaming performance at the same price range.

Gamers get a graphics card, so that's not even relevant.
