Guess people here rather have higher per core performance.

Not trying to divert topic, but when is a safe estimate we will see a price drop?

So is it safe to say this heats up as much as a 3770K, or even more? I use to get 4.8Ghz out of my 3770K with a H100 with temps into the mid 80's. If I can get 4.6-4.8 with this I'll be happy, if not I'll go with a Sandy-E....

A reasonable price drop? When AMD offers something competitive enough to make Intel think twice...

You're gonna fork +600$ US or the price of a beefy cpu+mobo in australia or the equivalent in koalas biggrin.gif for only a 5% improvement at best. Add to that that you probably won't be able to clock Haswell as high as Ivy, and that temps are significantly worse, and you're spending money for a sidegrade, even a downgrade depending of how you see it. You'll spend that money better if you upgrade your videocard.

Why would yo want to ditch a G1.Sniper 3 and a 3770k that clocks 4.8Ghz? kookoo.gif

I agree, if I still had this I wouldn't even consider up/side grading. My sig is my old rig, sold it to mate a while back. Getting back from OS soon and looking at building a new rig and cant decide on getting another 3770K, 4770K, or moving to a Sandy-E....

Did Intel use crappy thermal paste between the IHS and die again?
